About Us
Amamika Lab is the communication design and photography studio of Ippei and Janine Naoi. Amamika Lab produces creative communication for clients with a focus on distilling and strengthening their brand, through services such as photography, communication strategy, art direction and graphic design.
Alongside Amamika Lab, Ippei and Janine have a jewelry brand called “Amamika”, through Atelier Shinji Ginza. Atelier Shinji Ginza is a family-run business specialising in handmade contemporary jewelry. High quality craftsmanship is insisted upon, and each piece is designed, cast, finished and sold within the workshop/store. This in-house approach allows complete freedom, resulting in unique design which is not influenced by fleeting trends, and not bound by the rules of conventional jewelry making.

Ippei Naoi (Designer/Director)
Ippei Naoi, born in Tokyo, grew up surrounded by jewelry and design, having parents as jewelry designers. After graduating from Sophia University, he lived in Amsterdam for six years where he worked as a web designer. In 2006, he returned to Tokyo with Janine, where he became active in jewelry design, photography and marketing. After working for international branding agency, Landor Associates, Ippei launched Amamika and Amamika Lab with Janine.
Janine Vleugel Naoi (Designer/Director)
Janine Vleugel Naoi was born in Melbourne, Australia. She graduated from Melbourne’s Swinburne National School of Design, and after working in a design agency in Melbourne, she moved to Amsterdam where she spent three years as a graphic designer at international advertising agency, TBWA. In 2006, together with Ippei, Janine moved her base to Tokyo. Janine became active in jewelry design, drawing inspiration from her graphic design background, and enjoys the challenge of client work through Amamika Lab.
